Here is also the Big Chart of the Project FRACTAL UTOPIA (A Dream of Global Understanding) titled REPRESENTATION UNIVERSALIS, the Latin for UNIVERSAL REPRESENTATION. I was very excited when I conceived this graphic representation, first because it made sense of a multidimensional practice and also because it allows me to integrate into it everything I did, everything I do, and everything I will ever do. Now: Of course not everyone needs to go through this cultural process. As I precisely indicated in the statement you so radically reject: “…you certainly MIGHT need some historical and theoretical context to understand and appreciate… or even MAYBE to understand why Pollock…” So it was not the dogmatic statement of an absolute principle. My thinking that “…you (One) certainly might need some historical and theoretical context to understand and appreciate…” some specific artwork is simply based on empirical experiments, repeated over and over. Ever heard about that method? It looks like what I have learned as being called “the scientific method”.
And to cut it short here – I have a lot else to do – I would dare to hope that a good education and understanding of the rise of cubism (without which Pollock would have not rise) might eventually bring you to not only appreciate it, but to really enjoy it (I say “might” – but I am confident on your ability to reach that state).
